About UsThe Wilmington Family YMCA at 2710 Market St features two indoor pools, racquetball and basketball courts, aerobics room, personal training, cybex and weight training as well as meeting space. It is a state of the art fitness facility. Our emphasis is on the family and the "Spirit, Mind and Body" motto of the YMCA. No child is turned away from the YMCA because of a lack of money and with your help we can continue that tradition and maintain our facility and programs for years to come.
The new YMCA Triathlon Team features professional coaches including Iron Distance Triathletes (14 Ironman events), All-American swim coaches (NC State University class of 1988), and over 100 participants with 14 coaches and personal trainers supporting the athletes. The team is designed to get you started in your first triathlon or to take an experienced triathalete and bring them to a new level. The two indoor pools at the YMCA provide a unique swim-training experience as do the several swim coaches to give you personalized stroke improvement coaching. After whatever type of training or class that you have been involved in, you can join your friends at the new Smoothie bar for some gourmet coffee, sports drink or power food, homemade muffin, and of course a smoothie.
The Wilmington Family YMCA has an 80 year history in the Wilmington area and the Tri-span 10K/5K has been a part of that history for the last 25 years. The race has been directed by Gray Lambeth for the last 18 years and has grown to a 500+ person event and is a major fixture in the North and South Carolina running scene.
